Hunt of a Lifetime

Hunt of a Lifetime is a program with a mission is to grant hunting and fishing adventures and dreams for people ages 21 and under whom have been diagnosed with life threatening illnesses. Letterkenny supports and orchestrates memorable hunting experiences for participants in the program. This year the Depot hosted a two-day Hunt of a Lifetime event for two participants. One hunter successfully harvested a doe. Over the five year existence of the program the Depot has provided an opportunity for 18 individuals to hunt. While the participants may not always have a successful kill they enjoy time in the field, see plenty of deer and enjoy a ride in one of the electric "bad boy buggies" out to their heated hunting blind for the day's hunt. Since 2007 LEAD has held nine hunts for 18 children harvesting 12 deer.

The hunt is organized under the direction of the Directorate of Public Works and in coordination with Letterkenny Munitions Center and Directorate of Risk Management along with support from other depot directorates. Volunteers for the hunt help ensure that hunters have a safe and successful experience.
