Originally established as an ammunition depot, today LEAD repairs and modernizes air and missile defense and precision fires systems to enable multi-domain operations. LEAD is headquartered in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, and comprises over 18,000 acres. As the second largest employer in Franklin County, with over 1,600 employees, the depot fuels over a quarter of a billion dollars annually into the region both through payroll and contracts.
The workforce maintains a unified focus to embrace their daily tasks and takes personal responsibility for their role in supporting the warfighter. The various awards and recognition testify to the loyalty, hard work and dedication exhibited through the workforce. The members of Team Letterkenny facilitate improvement initiatives across the depot.
LEAD is subordinate to the U.S. Army Aviation and Missile Life Cycle Management Command, which is subordinate to the U.S. Army Materiel Command. Both commands are headquartered at Redstone Arsenal, Alabama.
The depot is certified in Aerospace 9100D/9110C Quality Management Systems, Environmental ISO 14001, Quality ISO 9001 and OHSAS 18001 for Health and Safety.
For over 80 years LEAD has exhibited commitment and support in providing the very best to the Nation's deserving warfighters.
